My April ’17 One Monthly Goal was to turn 8″ squares of various shades of blue Kona solids into half-square triangles and then to use those HSTs to make a blue ombre quilt top for my great-nephew, Jimmy, who will be graduating from high school and turning eighteen in June. I used the Ombre HST Quilt Pattern designed by my friend, Sarah Goer, as well as the blue ombre color palette in Kona solids she shared in her February 8th newsletter. In that newsletter, Sarah also shared three other palettes, and you can be sure that I will use the aqua-turquoise-teal palette in some future project–no surprise to anyone who knows me well!
I love Michael Miller Tumble Blocks wide backing fabric I bought from Hawthorne Threads. Below is a pic of it before I cut and pressed it:
I will be taking the quilt top and backing fabric to ThreadBear today to have it quilted. Jimmy and Rachel’s graduation party is in exactly two months, and I can’t wait to personally give them each their finished quilts.

Those blues are so pretty, and the backing fabric is perfect! Congrats on a finished top, and thanks so much for sharing it on MCM. I made my youngest son an HST quilt in blues/teals/greens – those are some of my favorite color combo’s. I enjoy seeing Sarah’s color palettes, and always want to try them all!
