To-Do Tuesday #25 Weekly Progress Update

I am joining the weekly To-Do Tuesday Weekly Progress Update Linky Party hosted by my friend, Roseanne, at Home Sewn By Us.

To-Do for the week of January 28th-February 4th:

  1. Make a label for my Medallion Lanterns quilt. – √ Done
  2. Machine sew the binding for Medallion Lanterns on the front of the quilt and start hand-stitching it down on the back of the quilt.  – √ Done
  3. Write my One Monthly Goal post for February.– √ Done

To-Do #1/2

I got my quilt back from Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting on Thursday, and she did a lovely job quilting it with a simple motif called Serpentine. I had the quilt label ready (see photo of the label on the back of the quilt in the second pic below) and on Friday, I got this monster of a quilt  (91.5” x 96.5”) trimmed and the basting stitches removed around the 376” perimeter of the quilt. On Saturday I got the binding machine stitched to the front of the quilt and started hand-stitching it the back. And on Sunday, I finished hand-stitching the binding watching a marathon of the Great British Baking Show on Netflix and a little Super Bowl pre-game show. Woo hoo! The photo below shows my cat, Bug, on the quilt which was almost finished when she jumped up on the bed for the glamorous cat-on-quilt pic.

To-Do #3

I’ve been working behind the scenes on a new project which I wrote about in my February 2020 OMG post. You might notice some of the same fabrics that I used in Medallion Lanterns including the Gold Metallic Burlap-look fabric by Benartex, Essex Charcoal, and Cloud 9 Organic Cirrus Solid in Shadow. Since I am no longer “askeered” of curved piecing, I decided to make my friend, Karla, a curvy quilt. I’ve had the Sew Kind of Wonderful Mini Quick Curve Ruler and the book with Mini QCR patterns for over a year, and I thought it was time to try it out. And I found that I love this ruler. Two 5” squares of fabric will yield two four-inch units, and in my book, that’s very little waste for curved piecing.

To-Do for the week of February 5th-February 11th

  1. Make more four-inch units for Karla’s quilt. I have 2 or 3 more fabrics that I’m planning to use in this quilt, so the above WIP will slightly change and definitely expand.
  2. Photograph the finished Medallion Lanterns quilt, hopefully outside over the weekend if it’s decent weather.
  3. Write a post for my friend Sarah Goer’s Show Me Something With Triangles Linkup. This Linky party can be for current or past triangle projects.

Hi Mary! Bug looks so sweet on the quilt. It seems like that was a very swift turnaround time for quilting. I sure do love the quilt in process for Karla. So do you cut 5″ squares for the curvy ruler? That sounds like it could be very charm pack friendly! I’ll have to check out that ruler. Thanks so much for linking up today! ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Love cat on quilts photos, and your Medallion is looking really good nestled under Bug! I have some curved piecing togged up on my list of fun things to sew; not sure when I’ll get to it though! You have some good plans for the week!

Your kitty is blending in with that quilt! I’ve got a clam shell quilt on my ‘want to make one day’ list. That gold pops in yours!
