To-Do Tuesday #37 Weekly Progress Update

I am joining the weekly To-Do Tuesday Weekly Progress Update Linky Party hosted by my friend, Roseanne, at Home Sewn By Us.

To-Do for the week of April 21st-April 27th:

  1. Finish 50 Years of Friendship Quilt Top. – √ Done
  2. Finish my improv squares table runner. – √ Done
  3. Bind Mime’s quilt. √ Done

To-Do #1

This quilt top went together fast in one week’s time. Of course it helped that I had a three-day weekend to get a good start on it. It truly was a Drop Everything and Make It project! The background fabric is Pepper Cory Studio E Charcoal Peppered Cotton that I purchased from Backside Fabrics. I really like the texture it provides, but it sure looks different depending on the placement of the grain of the fabric. You’ll notice that some of the background looks like it is cut from a darker grey fabric. I’ve decided to not obsess too much about this and am telling myself that it adds interest! Another drawback to this fabric is how much it frays. I had to use Fray Check on a couple seams, and I’m crossing my fingers about some other seams that have frayed more than I would like (actually I would like NO fraying whatsoever, LOL).

To-Do #2

I finished my turquoise/blue/lime table runner on Sunday. See my Improv Table Runner post for details.

To-Do #3

The kitty quilt for Mime arrived on Friday from The Modern Quilting Company, so I decided to make getting it finished the first task of my weekend. Of course she wanted nothing to do with it when we put it on the bed to take a couple of photos. The second pic is the adorable back of the quilt.

To-Do for the week of April 28th-May4th

  1. Make a paper-pieced Birthday Cake fabric card for my Aunt Lois in Eugene, Oregon, who turns 90 on May 10th. I’ve made a couple of these before including this one for Roseanne.
  2. Bind Glimmers of Gold quilt.
  3. Make some HSTs for a colorful upcoming project.

  1. Oh, that Pepper Cory fabric quilt is pretty! All of your quilt projects are pretty – you know I like that little improv runner (with matching lamp)! And why is it cats won’t cooperate when you want them to – haha! I’ll bet she’ll get on that quilt when she’s good and ready (if she hasn’t already!).

  2. I was happy to read your thoughts about the Pepper Cory fabric, I have some so I won’t be surprised by the fraying! I love those pillows!

Hi Mary! Well, isn’t that interesting about the shading/grain of the fabric. I’ve never noticed that before. It truly does give it nice texture and depth! Mime’s quilt is fab!! Of course, she didn’t want anything to do with it. You wanted a photo of her laying on the quilt – you can’t force her to comply so she’s not going anywhere near it! Cute backing fabric! Good luck with Aunt Lois’ birthday cake! I recognize my own cake – I was using it right before we got sent home just because I love it. You keep threating us with a colorful upcoming project! I’m dying to see it. thanks so much for linking up this week! ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. Your 50 Years of Friendship quilt is gorgeous! I really like the fun, bright design with the charcoal background. That is interesting how the color changes if you turn the grain. Mime’s quilt is great, too – I love the backing fabric!
