To-Do Tuesday #39 Weekly Progress Update

I am joining the weekly To-Do Tuesday Weekly Progress Update Linky Party hosted by my friend, Roseanne, at Home Sewn By Us.

To-Do for the week of May 5th-May 11th:

  1. Bind 50 Years of Friendship quilt for my friend, Jeanne. – √ Done
  2. Finish making the HSTs for my Blithe quilt top. √ Done

To-Do #1

Melissa with Sew Shabby Quilting got Jeanne’s quilt back to me in record time, and on Saturday I was able to get the quilt trimmed and bound. Below is a pic I took of it taped to some church doors at the local Methodist church. Jeanne’s Christian faith is very important to her, so I think this particular setting seems appropriate. I really love the Diagonal Plaid quilting pattern and how it sets off the diamonds in the quilt. This 51” x 63” quilt was a fast make—just three weeks from start to finish including a trip to Utah and back. The second pic is a close-up of the cheerful and positive backing fabric.

To-Do #2

Below are all the colors I’ll be using in my Blithe quilt arranged somewhat in rainbow order, but the finished quilt will have random placements of color. I’ve made four HSTs of each color except the dark blue with butterflies is featured in 8 HSTs. The majority of the colors are clearly cooler colors, but the warmer colors in the top row will add some interest and depth to the overall design.

Glimmers of Gold Update:

Karla received her Glimmers of Gold quilt this past week, and she loves it. She has decided to hang the quilt in her living room, so I made a hanging sleeve and got it in the mail to her, and since she’s comfortable with needle and thread, she can hand-stitch it to the back of the quilt.

To-Do for the week of May 5th-May 11th:

  1. Bind Hayden’s Graduation quilt.
  2. Start sewing the blocks for my Blithe quilt top.

  1. Yay for the finish on Jeanne’s quilt; it looks great! Your Blithe quilt looks fun with all those bright HSTs and low volume backgrounds. There is nothing better than seeing finished quilts held by the new owner with a big smile on her face, right?! How fun!

  2. Jeanne’s quilt looks beautiful framed by the doors of the church. And look at the smile on Karla’s face. I love that you are gifting your quilts to friends who appreciate them so much.

Hi Mary! Yippee – I’m so glad to see that Karla has received her quilt. As a wall hanging it sure will remind her of all of her hard work as well as how much you love her. It will look gorgeous on any wall! Ah-ha! There really are some brights in your new color scheme! That navy fabric with the butterflies is SO COOL. Finally, what a fabulous finish 50 Years is. Jeanne will just adore it – will you see her soon to be able to give it to her or do you need to mail the quilt? Thanks for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

What a nice photo setting for Jeanne’s quilt! Love the simple quilting too. Glimmers – get wall piece, and Blithe looks like a fun colorful top.
