My friend, Sarah, at Sarah Goer Quilts hosts a monthly linky part entitled, “Show Me Something…” Each month has a different theme which can be a color, a shape, a quilting style, etc. This month Sarah is asking us to share projects with the color orange.
This past week I had the pleasure to meet in person my friend, Wendy, who blogs at Pieceful Thoughts. She and her husband came to New Mexico for a short get-away, and they hosted me for lunch at the casita they rented. I knew that Wendy likes the color orange, and she and I both have orange cats, so I decided to make Wendy a Sashiko Kitties Mini using a Sashiko template I bought awhile back and traced the cats with a brown Frixion pen (which isn’t typically recommended as the ink that disappears with a hot iron can reappear in extremely cold temps. I decided to chance it!) I used a pretty orange variegated Pearl floss which shows up fine up close but isn’t very visible at a distance. It’s the same thread that I decided not to use with my Two Cranes Sashiko project. I first saw this Sashiko pattern when Wendy shared about her pretty version with blue variegated thread last year in this Post.
I sure was glad that I showed up with this little mini as Wendy also had a handmade gift for me. Look at the lovely pouch she made for me, complete with some Sashiko thread and some cute button pins. It was fun meeting Wendy and spending some wonderful time talking and getting to know each other better.

It was such a fun visit, and so neat to be able to meet in person. I love my little Sashiko Kitten Mini, and I know exactly where I will be displaying it once I get back to my quilt room (hopefully this afternoon). Your stitches are so pretty and even, and I love the orange thread and fabric! Thanks for coming for the visit!
