To-Do #1

If you have been following my blog for awhile, you know that I LOVE color gradient quilts. I probably have at least 10 more color gradient quilts on my Quilty Bucket list. Back in 2018 Erica with Kitchen Table Quilting shared a blog post about her Break of Day Quilt using her Katie Quilt pattern. I immediately pinned her blog post, and occasionally it has shown up in my Pinterest feed. When it popped up again a couple months ago, I decided to take a look at how many of the Kona solid fabrics she used in this quilt I had in my stash (BTW she offers the list for free in her shop), and I had many of them. I struggled with whether I could fit this quilt in this year but then I decided to shift a couple projects to 2023. Below is a pic of some of the flying geese I’ve made along with fabric for the nine patch plus blocks for this project. I’m waiting on one more fabric to complete the sunrise look which is Kona Lupine–a very pretty light purple fabric.

To-Do #2

Speaking of color gradient quilts, I have just barely started making units for Lumen 2.0. I first made this quilt in 2019 for my stepdaughter, and I have honestly thought about making a Lumen quilt for myself ever since I finished making the first one. I’ve only made two units so far with Kaleidoscope Charcoal and Foxglove. I’m waiting to make any more unit until I finish my Break of Day quilt top.

To-Do #3

I really enjoyed watching Sarah Goer‘s Sewing Smooth Improv Curve class through Global Quilt Connection Sampler over the weekend, and I played a little with overlapped curves after watching her class. Take a look at her awesome overlapped rainbow curves on Instagram here. Below is my practice piece with some leftover Murmuration fabric.

To-Do for the week of August 1st-7th:

  1. Make progress on Break of Day.
  2. Pull some fabric for a set of placemats for my niece, Mary Frances.
  3. Take a Quilt as You Go class on August 5th.
