I am joining the weekly To-Do Tuesday Weekly Progress Update Linky Party hosted by my friend, Roseanne, at Home Sewn By Us.
To-Do for the week of May 26th-June 1st:
- Bind Hummingbirds quilt. √ Done
- Take an outside photo of Vertices quilt. √ Done
- Start working again on my Solstice Block of the Month project and get the angled strips sets needed for month two of this BOM. √ Done
To-Do #1
I did get the Hummingbirds quilt finished on Saturday. It is a nice throw size at 54.5” by 72.5”. I love the swirly flower quilting done by Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting. This quilt is already in the mail to Mary’s niece, Lori. I’m thrilled with how bright and cheerful it looks and hope it brightens many of Lori’s days. That center hummingbird in the second row is in the middle of a Kona Lapis star, and it is my favorite block.
To-Do #2
This is my Vertices quilt that I recently finished that will be donated to Mercyful Quilts through Hands2Help 2020. It is 72” X 77” and is a very generous throw size quilt. The simple triangular quilting was done by The Modern Quilting Company. I also got this quilt in the mail on Monday to Bernie of Needle & Foot. I really hope to meet Bernie someday. She lives in a rural community an hour or two away from Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, CA. I grew up in Sacramento, and my mother was a pink lady at one of their branches. I probably won’t make it to Northern California this year, but fingers crossed, I’ll be able to visit family and friends there next year and maybe even meet Bernie.
To-Do #3
It was fun to get back to my Solstice BOM this past week, and the angle strip sets weren’t hard at all. The biggest challenge was pressing the units in opposite directions, so they nicely nested. Below are two of the strip sets sewn together. Next I’ll add a couple of wide dark blue rectangles to either side and then will trim the unit into an 8” equilateral triangle. Month 2 of the Solstice BOM calls for 12 of these symmetrical angled-strip set triangles.
To-Do for the week of June 2nd-June 8th:
- Finish Month 2 of the Solstice BOM.
- Try a few sashiko stitches on one of the pre-printed coasters that I plan to give my niece, Mary Frances, for her birthday in August.
- Work on a secret Christmas quilting project.
Linking up to Home Sewn By Us: To-Do Tuesday Weekly Progress Update Linky #43.
Hi Mary! Great job on your to-do list from last week. The Hummingbird quilt sure turned out great. Who knew they came in such beautiful colors? After spending a lot of time watching our feeder I can say that we do have several different colored hummers around this part of the USA. I forgot about your Vertices quilt. Someone is going to really enjoy snuggling underneath it for sure! Now it’s back to your beloved solids and the Solstice blocks. Thanks so much for linking up this week (I don’t think you did link up yet, though)! ~smile~ Roseanne
