My June 2021 One Monthly Goal was to make 24 blocks for the Positivity Sew Along hosted by Sew Preeti Quilts. I’m thrilled to make another Mercyful quilt that will go to the Palliative Care Unit at Mercy Hospital in Sacramento, California that gives quilts to their terminally ill patients to bring some measure of comfort to the person and their family as they go through the difficult process of dying. The family then keeps the quilt in the memory of the person who passed away.
I have chosen the simplest layout due to time constraints, but the seven different Alison Glass Kaleidoscope fabrics give some visual and textural interest. The background is Charcoal, and the fabrics for the pluses are Cobalt, Turtle, Tiger, Pencil, Hope, and Mermaid.
Linking up to Elm Street Quilts: June 2021 OMG Finishes. I am also linking up with the Positivity QAL Progress Link-Up hosted by Bernie at Needle and Foot.
Such lovely blocks in those bright cheerful colors. I still haven’t started mine; I’ve had my improv workshop assignments taking up all my time. Not sure if I’ll get going on mine or not, at this point!

The bright colors really sing against the background, and I know the quilt is going to mean a lot to its eventual recipient.

Hi Mary! This is such a pretty quilt. It is bright and happy, and that gorgeous charcoal background really lets those plus signs shine. Also, it doesn’t scream feminine which is nice, I think. I’m trying to go in that direction as well – only one slightly pinkish color that is really coral. What a fabulous donation this will be. It will be a true comfort to someone, and then an even more permanent one to their family left behind. {{Hugs}} Nice job! ~smile~ Roseanne

I love yours and I love Alison Glass! I have a bunch of her fabrics that could easily be made into this quilt I’d need the grays though…….Maybe I have a trip coming to the LQS soon. I’m not sure when this would get done as others have priority but by summer’s end? A possibility!

This is so pretty. I see a subtle grid in the background. Is that a shot cotton?

24 blocks! You are way ahead of the game, as far as I am concerned. I am so excited to know we will receive another quilt from you. The bright colors on that gray background will be lovely – it will bring comfort. I like to think these quilts we donate to Mercy take some of the sterility out of the setting as the family goes through this really intimate and difficult process with their loved one. Thank you so much.
