My August 2021 One Monthly Goal was to appliqué by hand a lotus blossom on the lower half of a 41″ x 48″ quilt which was made using various widths of Ombré Metallic Dots Confetti fabric sewn together using the Lotus Blossom Quilt Pattern from Wefty Needle. I finished appliquéing the petals and leaves of the lotus blossom on Saturday but wasn’t happy with how the petals and leaves joined. I remembered that Sarah Fielke whose appliqué class I took in February through QuiltCon has a tutorial on her website on How to Make Perfect Appliqué Circles. I like how the little circle gives the lotus blossom a more finished look.
The quilting was done by Sew Shabby Quilting using a pattern called Mist. The binding was made with Kaleidoscope Raven fabric. The backing fabric is a black and white lotus flower fabric ordered through Spoon Flower.

What a great finish – it kinda glows! What a great way to wrap up the month!

I’m pretty sure Mist is the quilting pattern for one of my earliest quilts that I made (I think it was my 4th quilt). The circle finishes off the design nicely and congratulations on the finish!

What a gorgeous quilt – those lotus petals are just perfect for it. I love the circle addition, it really does tie it all up. That backing – oh my gosh so pretty!
