Nov ‘19 OMG Finish

My November ‘19 One Monthly Goal was to make a Penguin Party pillow (Pattern by Elizabeth Hartman) to add to my holiday decor this Christmas. I did simple one-inch apart straight-line quilting on this pillow cover. You may notice if you look at Elizabeth’s pattern that I opted to center my penguin in the middle of the pillow rather than having a wide border on the left and a narrower border on the right as was instructed in the pillow. I know asymmetrical borders are a hallmark of modern quilting which I am certainly drawn to, but sometimes the more traditional look is more appealing to my eye. I guess I’m only a partially modern Mary!

Below is the back of the pillow. I just love the adorable ice-fishing penguin print.

I made a second Penguin Party pillow for my friend, Alicia, and decided to quilt it slightly differently. I chose to not quilt through the penguin but instead stitched-in-the-ditch around the penguin and then did half-inch-apart straight-line quilting. See this Post for a picture of Alicia’s penguin.

Hi Mary! This penguin is just so darn adorable. I love the fabrics you chose for him. Centering him works as well, I think – otherwise you wouldn’t be able to enjoy all of his cuteness! This is the pillow you are keeping for yourself? He’s a sweet addition wherever he lands – I would have a hard time giving him up. ~smile~ Roseanne

Your penguin pillows are wonderful! They would be lovely in the Winter months. I believe I would want him in the middle of the pillow, also. Too Cute!
