To-Do Tuesday #56 Weekly Progress Update

I am joining the weekly To-Do Tuesday Weekly Progress Update Linky Party hosted by my friend, Roseanne, at Home Sewn By Us.

To-Do for the week of Sept 1-Sept 7th:

  1. Sew the quilt top for the Summer Sampler Alumni Black Lives Matter quilt. √ Done
  2. Write my September 2020 OMG post. √ Done

To-Do #1

I finished sewing the Summer Summer Alumni quilt top to honor the Black Lives Matter movement on Sunday and am sending it to Sarah (@acorncornerquilts on Instagram) today along with some backing fabric, and she will quilt it, and her mother will take care of the binding. Then it will be ready to be auctioned off this fall to benefit the Social Justice Sewing Academy.

To-Do #2

I decided to wait to write my September 2020 One Monthly Goal post until I finished the Lucille the Seal block. I had a little problem with her mouth being slightly crooked and actually took a couple seams apart (after I took the pic below) and ended up having to hand-stitch a couple places. It looks okay, but I definitely could have left it alone and saved myself some time and frustration.

To-Do for the week of Sept 8th-Sept 14th:

  1. Make the Otters block for my North Stars quilt top. This block will be in shades of blues and greys.
  2. Work on my Dahlia Sashiko project.

Hi Mary! Oh!! I love the BLM quilt. I wonder if they are looking for other quilts to auction off? I’m going to be making an International Sisters piece and I was looking for a donation site. Lucille the seal turned out so cute. If you had left her mouth a little crooked she would have still been cute and sweet. What a fun and pretty project! Thanks so much for linking up this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. You have two fun projects to work on this week! Those EH patterns have some small pieces, so sometimes you just have to accept a little wonkiness and let it be part of the quilt. I loved the otter blocks (she called them manatee, if you recall) in the Awesome Ocean quilt, so I hope you have fun with them this week!
