My May 2021 One Monthly Goal was to do the sashiko stitching on the Two Cranes pre-printed Sashiko pattern. Last month I started stitching it with a variegated orange Perle thread but didn’t like how washed-out the lighter sections of the thread looked. I ordered some Wonderfil Eleganza in a several yellow and orange colors, and ended up using a color called Pencil. I still haven’t rinsed off the pre-printed marks in the pic below:
The design measures about 11.5” square. I will be giving it unfinished to my brother in July for his 75th birthday and will find out how he would like me to finish it. I could have it framed for him. I could made it the center of a lap quilt or it could be a mini wall hanging. It also would make a nice pillow. Stay tuned for an update in mid-July regarding what he decides 🙂

Thanks Wendy. I enjoyed stitching this project. Hey, I went down a rabbit hole yesterday on Pinterest and ended up at Quilt Improv Studio and was delighted to see your black/white with green improv project and some quotes from you about the project. Very fun!!!

Wonderful finish! Well, almost finish! He will cherish it. Reminds me I need to get another kit or mark my table runner and stitch it.

Hi Mary! Ooh, I can hardly wait to hear what your brother would like. My first thought was of a pillow but you give excellent different options. It turned out so lovely. Congrats on the OMG finish. ~smile~ Roseanne
