To-Do Tuesday 131 Weekly Progress Update

To-Do for the week of Feb 7th-13th:

  1. Work on the fourth border for SAHRR. √Done
  2. Make more economy blocks for Lucy’s I Spy Quilt. √Done
  3. Work on temperature and/or Peloton units. √Done

To-Do #1

My friend, Wendy, at Pieceful Thoughts chose the signature block for the fourth border for our Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR). I decided that the light French Bull Dog fabric from Christopher Thompson’s Blue Carolina collection would be perfect since I could cut the dogs on the diagonal for the signature blocks. Of course bias cutting tends to eat up more fabric than straight cuts, so I chose to only make eight signature blocks. Getting the dogs going the right direction and not upside down proved to be challenging especially when I was sewing Saturday afternoon and starting to run out of steam. I definitely had to use my seam ripper and do some re-sewing. My SAHRR project now measures about 35.5″ square.

To-Do #2

I actually finished the last six economy blocks for Lucy’s I Spy quilt on Saturday and got the layout designed. I plan to share the finished quilt top next Sunday. Here is one of my favorite blocks that I think is perfect for a toddler quilt:

To-Do #3

I am up-to-date on my flying geese units for all three temperature quilts but need to make a unit that captures the data for my rides on the Peloton bike last week. I hope to post a progress photo or two next week.

To-Do for the week of Feb 14th-20th:

  1. Finish Lucy’s I Spy quilt top.
  2. Make the fifth border for SAHRR.
  3. Work on temperature and/or Peloton units.

  1. Your signature blocks look great, they accent the center block well! That little ISpy block is really cute – I love that center fabric! Great job on your tasks for the week!

Hi Mary! Love, love, LOVE your signature blocks. They look so darn cute!! OMG. That economy block you shared is also so darn cute. I played with a similar xylophone on Sunday, trying to tap our a song someone might recognize. You’d have thought my life depended on that but thankfully, it did not. I can’t wait to see the whole quilt top. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  3. Your signature blocks turned out great (in spite of your seam ripper). Love the old fashioned toys on that I Spy quilt.
Thanks for linking up with To Do Tuesday!

  4. I really like how you set your signature blocks, Mary! And that fabric is so fun! I didn’t realize until I zoomed in a bit that it is the same one you used for the dog’s ears. Cute! The economy blocks will make a great I Spy quilt, too. Have a great week!

Who of us can look at that I-spy block and just feel our childhood come back to us??? I had to use a little of that FP fabric in a challenge quilt last year. I don’t usually use novelty fabrics but that one was particularly good at giving all the happy feels! Good luck on your to-do’s!

I started fussy cutting for an I Spy quilt some time ago. I should find them and get a start on making it.

I love your interpretation of the signature block!! And that toy block makes me laugh as I found one of those phones and got it for my grand baby! She’s not even 3 months yet, but she’s got her first “phone”!
