To-Do for the week of August 8th-14th:
- Make more progress on Break of Day. √Done
- Make a very small table topper using the QAYG technique I learned from Cindy at Santa Fe Quilting. √Done
- Do a little sashiko stitching. √Done
To-Do #1
I have continued to make good progress with my Break of Day Quilt. These colors just make me happy! Erica with Kitchen Table Quilting is a color design genius! Below is a pic of units made for the center section of the quilt top where I’ve sewn some of the blocks and sashing strips into rows.
To-Do #2
On Saturday I finished the 14″ square table topper that I started in the Quilt as You Go class taught by Cindy at Santa Fe Quilting earlier this month. I used the Between the Blocks method from the book Quilt as You Go Handbook by Pauline Rogers which is machine stitched on both sides. The blocks are from a long abandoned project called the Chocolatier Block of the Month. It was so much fun to turn these 6.5″ blocks into a usable table topper for the little table in the corner of my quilting space. The travel mug is from my best friend, Mary. Pretty cute–huh?
To-Do #3
I purchased this Sashiko Christmas Tree kit from Be Be Bold a few months ago. It came with white and green Sashiko thread, but I have decided to use Perle 8 floss instead because it has such a nice shimmer. It’s a little thinner than the thread provided in the kit, but I think it looks fine.
To-Do for the week of August 15th-21st:
- Finish my Break of Day quilt top
- Piece the backing for Break of Day.
- Do a little more sashiko stitching.
Linking up with Texas Quilt Gal: To-Do Tuesday.
Hooray for turning some abandoned project blocks into a lovely finish. Sounds like a productive week spent doing things that clearly bring you joy. 🙂

Always fun to turn those abandoned blocks into a quilt, and your little mini is very pretty tucked in that spot! Break of Day is looking gorgeous, and I like your choice of thread for that fun Sashiko!

Your Break of Day blocks are looking good, Mary! I love the way you finished off the orphan blocks, too. It’s always a good feeling to make something useful out of those orphan blocks. Enjoy that Sashiko Christmas Tree stitching!

Your Break of Day quilt is looking pretty, and I LOVE that sashiko – yes on the shimmer-y thread! That’s a cute little mini – are those iridescent tiles next to it?
Thank you for joining with us at To Do Tuesday!
