My October 2022 One Monthly Goal was to sew together the third quarter (July, August, and September 2022) of the THREE temperature quilts I am making this year. The first temp quilt is for me in northern New Mexico, the second for my stepdaughter who lives in California in the Bay Area, and the third for my stepson who lives in Washington. I’m using 2″x4″ finished flying geese in all three quilts. I am paper-piecing all the flying geese using Lee@Freshly Pieced’ Perfect Flying Geese and keeping track of the date, state, and colors on the paper to help keep me organized. I am using the same Kona solids to depict each temperature range, and it has been fun to see the units sewn together for each quarter so far in 2022 and compare the different temperatures for each state. Below are the flying geese units for July-September. New Mexico is the left, California in the middle, and Washington on the right:
Here are flying geese units sewn together for April-June (New Mexico on the left, California in middle, and Washington on the right):
And here the flying geese units sewn together for January-March (New Mexico on the left, California in middle, and Washington on the right):
Linking up to Elm Street Quilts: Oct 2022 One Monthly Goal Finish.
It’s so fascinating to see the trends over the year. It looks like your area of New Mexico has the widest variation in temperatures to me and Washington is somewhere between where you are and California, on average.

Congratulations for your OMG finish. I may have set my goal too high and might not finish, but I’m still trying. One week left!
