Quilting is in my Blood

My July 2020 One Monthly Goal is to turn the Sashiko designs that I’ve been working on for the past month into coasters. I’ve completed four so far which are shown in the photo collage below:

I have one more Sashiko design to complete, and then I will make four of them into a set of coasters and save the fifth one for a different project. I’ve enjoyed beginning to learn this specific embroidery craft and have already ordered another set of coaster designs to continue my Sashiko practice.

My June 2020 One Monthly Goal was to finish the Month 2 units as well to make the units for Months 3 and 4 of my Solstice quilt. I am doing the Monochromatic version of the Solstice Block of the Month program. People who know me well are shocked that I chose to use different colors of blue (with some silver for a Christmasy touch) rather than the turquoise colors featured in Rebecca Bryan’s mock-up. It was hard not to use turquoise, but the quilt will be displayed in a section of the house that has more blue Christmas decor, plus I had to venture at least slightly out of my comfort zone! I did get Months 2, 3, and 4 completed along with Month 5. Below is a pic of one each of all the units so far:

I am in the process of working on Month 6 of this BOM which I hope to finish up next week, and then I will be caught up, at least until July 17th when we get the instructions for Month 7!

My June 2020 One Monthly Goal is to get Months 2, 3, and 4 completed for the 2020 Solstice Block of the Month project through Bryan House Quilts. I took a break from this project when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and all I wanted to do quilting-wise was easy piecing. But I’m starting to feel more like myself and decided I was ready to take on making some angled strip sets. Right now I’m in the middle of Month 2 of this BOM. Below is the pic that I took of my Month 1 units back in January that will be dispersed throughout the quilt.
